Cyber warriors - India initiatives


The year 1820,  recorded the first cyber crime in the context of technology at that point in time. In nearly two decades, cyber crime has emerged as a giant affecting the lives of millions of Internet users across the world. Be it leading actress declaring that someone created a false profile on www.facebook.com, young girls unwittingly getting caught in the web of embezzlement of funds through e-commerce, or even  personal e-mail passwords being hacked. The story remains the same worldwide. 

Cyber security has emerged as a crucial element of national defense for India. This realization has emerged in the wake of many glaring cyber issues and security problems faced by India.  Cyber security challenges of India have become a series issue that the highest echelons of Indian government has initiated dialog on these areas.  The national security administration is has expressed its concern  about increasing levels of security breaches and attacks through computers, mobiles and other devices.

Amidst this cloudy image of cyber crimes canvas, there is a light that emanates in the form of job opportunities for aspirants in the field of information security. Although an aspirant is not an IT specialist, a bit of technological and analytical bent of mind for the cyber world will adds value to his career.  Recognizing the huge gap  of trained and skilled resource in the cyber security domains, and taking into account the requirement emerging for protection of information technology infrastructure in the country as well as to serve the export market; the Indian government has expanded the career prospects in this field by announcing to train 5 lakh cyber warriors in the next five years to boost e-defense  announced the" Minister of State for Communications. In line with this move from Government, HTC Institute of Technology Management and Research (HTCITMR)  has come up with Diploma in Cyber Investigations and Laws, a six months program for the benefit of interested professionals at large.
 
A government-private sector plan, initiative aims in getting more resources trained throughly to meet the specialized skills required for beefing up India's cyber security, despite our reputation of being an IT and software powerhouse. The government also intends to introduce specialised cyber security-related curriculum in engineering and management courses and establish Institute of Cyber Security Professionals of India says the media at large. The need for cybersecurity experts spans across various industries ranging from financial services, manufacturing and utilities to healthcare and retail. Among the major U.S. companies trying to fill cybersecurity-related positions are Boeing, Baylor Health Care System, Verisign and Office Depot.
